Veteran Saves sponsors three awards for organizations participating in Veteran Saves Week: The Designation of Savings Excellence (DOSE), the Savings Champion Award, and the Community Impact Award. The DOSE and Savings Champion Award are annual industry-respected awards that recognize organizations who effectively and actively promote saving strategies during Veteran Saves Week.
New in 2024 is the Community Impact Award. This award recognizes a single organization who effectively promotes taking the Veteran Saves Pledge to their audiences through an embeddable pledge on their website.
About the Designation of Savings Excellence Award
Banks and Credit Unions play an important role in Veteran Saves Week by making it easy for their customers and members to save. When individuals utilize saving accounts they build financial security and financial institutions increase deposits, build goodwill, and strengthen relationships.
That’s why we recognize financial institutions that show exceptional achievement in Veteran Saves Week activities by awarding them the Designation of Savings Excellence.
Designees are recognized by:
- Veteran Saves Designation of Savings Excellence award.
- A digital seal to display on your website and share on social media.
- Recognition on VeteranSaves.Org.
- Recognition in a national press release and individually in local releases.
Eligibility requirements:
- Signed up to participate in the current year of Veteran Saves Week.
- Demonstrated efforts in encouraging saving during Military Saves Week.
- Complete the Designation of Saving Excellence Application which is included in the Veteran Saves Week Reporting Survey.
Awards will be given based on the completed information provided through the Designation of Savings Excellence Application within the Veteran Saves Week Reporting Survey.
About the Savings Champion Award
Every Veteran Saves Week, hundreds of participating organizations around the world, including non-profits, military installations, veteran services, and government agencies, go the extra mile to help veterans, transitioning service members, and their families save money and assess their financial habits. We want to recognize those organizations who go above and beyond during Veteran Saves Week with our Savings Champion Award.
2021 Savings Champion: USS Makin Island
The Savings Champion Award is a national recognition that is awarded by Veteran Saves with the support of a selection committee comprised of staff and leadership in all program initiatives.
Winners are recognized by:
- Veteran Saves Savings Champion Award.
- A digital badge to display on your website and share on social media.
- Recognition on VeteranSaves.Org.
- Recognition in a national press release and individually in local releases.
Eligibility requirements:
- Signed up to participate in Veteran Saves Week.
- Encourage the Veteran community to make a commitment and savings plan through the Veteran Saves Pledge.
- Promote VSW through a variety of events and social activities.
- Complete the Savings Champion Application which is included in the Veteran Saves Week Reporting Survey.
Awards will be given based on the completed information provided through the Veteran Saves Week Reporting Survey.
About the Community Impact Award
The Community Impact Award recognizes an organization who use the Veteran Saves Pledge to promote setting a saving goal and making a plan to reach that goal. This award builds on the well-recognized concept that individuals with a saving plan are twice as likely to save successfully.

- Recognition on VeteranSaves.Org.
Eligibility requirements:
All organizations that are signed up to participate in the current year of Veteran Saves Week are eligible for the Community Impact Award. Organizations must request and use an Embeddable Veteran Saves Pledge and will be considered based on the total number of pledges taken by your audience members. This number will be automatically reported to Veteran Saves.
